Gather a few things
Large paper and age-rated chunky crayons in a few colors.
Let’s play
- Place the paper on a stable surface within easy reach.
- A grown-up makes one big curved line and offers a color choice.
- Take turns adding lines, dots, or scribbles beside it.
- Leave the rainbow as it is, or add a grown-up-drawn cloud and tell it where to travel.
A little learning to notice
Talk about beside, above, curved, and long as you draw.
Keep a little memory
Give your rainbow a name chosen by your toddler.
Make it work for your child
Two colors are enough. There is no need to copy a curve or put colors in a particular order.
