Begin with a tiny invitation
Put a basket and three large, safe toys on the floor. Sit nearby and wonder aloud what could go inside. Let your toddler decide whether this becomes sorting, a picnic, or simply putting things in and out.
Change the kind of play
After a seated activity, try the slow-fast wiggle or roll a soft ball together. Then offer a quieter book. Think of this as a menu you can return to, not a sequence you must complete.
Repeat what works
A favorite activity is allowed to be today’s activity again. Change one small element, such as a different stuffed animal, rather than constantly introducing something new. Follow your child’s interest instead of a timer.
Leave room for the real day
Meals, rest, cuddles, cleanup, and looking out of the window belong in the day, too. If everyone is tired, a familiar book and sitting together may be enough. Visit our activity collection for short, practical instructions.
