- Joining familiar social games such as pat-a-cake.

- Pulling up and moving along furniture while holding on.
A little way to play
Sit on the floor with a large, age-rated toy and an open basket. Show how it goes in and comes out. Pause to let your child take a turn.
Everyday moments
Keep a few safe choices within reach. Narrate what your child is doing instead of asking lots of questions. A short, shared moment counts.
