• Using around 50 words and combining words with an action word.
• Playing beside other children and sometimes with them.
• Following a two-part direction.
• Recognizing at least one color and jumping with both feet.

A little way to play

Ask your toddler to put a large toy in its basket and bring you a book. If two steps are too much today, offer one at a time.

Everyday moments

Let pretend play take unexpected turns. Give time to experiment before stepping in. Familiar routines can include a small helping job.
